No more guinea fowl alert
The fox got all but one...and the one we saved, has a puncture on its back so may be gone by morning, but we put him in the cage with water and food. Such is life on a farm.

Oh no
Glad we went for a walk and got to see them. Such funny little creatures. I look forward to seeing the babies next year!

I thought guinea fowl were the predator alerts on poutry farms. I'm so sorry for the loss. Touch up the survivor's wound with hydrogen peroxide and, if you have any, cattle eye & wound powder.

Most dairy - beef operations and some horse owners have eye & wound powder (it's basically a sulfa powder - reduces infection. good luck.

We'll keep our eyes open (and make sure the hens' perimeter fence is charged!).

That's horrible. I need a thicker skin to be a farmer.

So sorry to hear that! I know it's a fact of farm life but it doesn't make it any easier.

We have a wee bit of good news. One bird survived. Not the one that I was trying to save, but one that must have figured out how to fly and got away from the fox. So we will get the keets next week and see if the remaining female will adopt them. Won't let any of them out again this year.
